Chapter 405: The Signed Contract!
Chapter 405: The Signed Contract!
Looking at Ritsuka Fujimaru with a look of pure disdain, Akira reiterated to himself that he wanted a girl, not a grown man. Even Kingu had been reconstructed into a beautiful woman, so what made this boy feel so special?
"The contract is formed. Until the moment Ritsuka Fujimaru leaves this world, you will temporarily remain as his Servant. After that, everything about you belongs to me—your will, your body, and your soul."
Akira recited the terms of the contract slowly. This was, after all, the main heroine of FGO.
Mash had already braced herself. Given that her remaining lifespan was originally so short, she felt satisfied knowing that in her final moments, she could help her senior save the Human Order. This was the Seventh Singularity, the Age of Gods, Mesopotamia—the final Singularity.
"Mash doesn't belong to you! She's free!"
Ritsuka jumped forward again, shouting a line that would usually send a girl's affection levels through the roof. In a typical novel, Mash's feelings for him would have spiked. For an artificially created Homunculus, "freedom" was the ultimate luxury.
If she had been given a real choice, would Mash have chosen the path she was on now? A life born in a lab, a mass-produced tool—it was a cruel fate.
"Hehe... Hahahaha! Free? You're telling me she's free?"
Akira couldn't help but laugh. His expression and tone in that moment bore a seventy percent resemblance to Gilgamesh's own wild laughter. Others might not have seen it, but Siduri caught the similarity immediately.
"Do you even know, Ritsuka Fujimaru, that Mash is a Homunculus? Do you understand what that means?"
"What does it mean? It means she's a human who was just born!"
"No. It means she is property. Property of 'Chaldea'. Because she is a tool created for a specific purpose."
"Stop talking nonsense! Mash isn't a tool!"
"She's not? The artificial embryo experiments, the Homunculus experiments, the Demi-Servant experiments, the Rayshift experiments... This little girl walked through all of that, step by step. And you're telling me she isn't a tool?"
"No! Mash isn't a tool! She's a living, breathing human being!"
Ritsuka fought back with everything he had, his face turning red all the way to his neck. Deep down, he likely knew the answer, but he refused to believe the cold reality.
The same heavy atmosphere hung over Chaldea. Romani, Da Vinci, and the rest of the staff fell silent. The words were painful and piercing, but they were facts. As a Homunculus produced by Chaldea, Mash was technically their property.
Mash herself lowered her head in silence. She was kind and innocent, but she wasn't stupid. Chaldea had raised her with positive, proactive thoughts, filling her heart with light. But through every Singularity, her experiences had forced her to grow. While she remained cheerful, she had begun to touch the darker sides of humanity. There were simply things she chose not to think about, because thinking too deeply leads to doubt.
"You... you... you..."
Ritsuka stammered, unable to finish a single coherent sentence. Akira lost interest in him. It had nothing to do with him anyway.
Silence reclaimed the Ziggurat's hall.
"Shin Akira, there is one thing this King wishes to ask. You may refuse to answer."
"Go ahead."
"If I haven't guessed wrongly, our Mother has fully awakened by now, hasn't she?"
"Yes. Mother has awakened and has obtained the Holy Grail. She has risen completely."
"How troublesome. Nothing is ready, yet the end of the world has begun."
"No, this isn't the end of the world."
"Hm?"
"Exactly what I said. This world will not be destroyed, and Mother will not be exiled again. The wheels of fate are turning slowly."
"Hmph. And are you capable of pulling that off?"
"Let's find out."
The two exchanged a smirk. Akira held a level of respect for the Wise King, while Gilgamesh found satisfaction in Akira's sheer arrogance and confidence. After glancing around one last time, Akira's gaze returned to Mash.
"Treasure your final moments, Mash."
"I will."
Mash nodded. She truly intended to cherish the time she had left.
Then, Akira's body began to break apart, dissolving into primordial dark Mana that flowed back into Mash. In that instant, Mash felt the weight of the contract she had signed. It was set in stone; anyone who broke it would face massive consequences. For Mash, her power now exceeded her own imagination, but as she merged with the Commandment of Love, her body drifted closer to the darkness.
She had no doubt that if she tried to defy the contract, she would die.
Meanwhile, out on the sea, the overflowing Chaos Tide looked like a black wave ready to swallow the planet, striving to consume the entire world.
"Mnnnn~"
Slowly opening her eyes, the Mother had begun to move. From within the ocean, a massive number of Lahmu were being born, swarming toward their Mother.
"Onii-chan, what should we do? Mother's condition is very poor right now."
"Don't worry. Leave Mother to me."
"Alright, I understand."
Currently, Akira, carried by Tiamat, continued to move toward the mainland. Tiamat's massive body, supported by those slender legs, wasn't actually meant to carry her weight on land. To move forward, she had to ride atop the Chaos Tide itself.
In the original timeline, this was dealt with by Quetzalcoatl's Noble Phantasm, which evaporated a massive amount of the tide in an instant. But this timeline was different. Even Ritsuka's legendary charm with goddesses didn't worry Akira.
Ishtar, Gorgon, and even Ereshkigal deep in the Underworld—in the original story, they all joined the opposing side. But for Akira, the most important task was waking his Mother. If he wanted her in a true combat state, this wasn't enough.
After all, Tiamat, having awakened as a "Beast," had become a calamity rarely seen in human history. The Chaos Tide spread across the sea, starting from the deep waters and closing in. And the Mother, Tiamat, continued to transform as she rode the black waves.
Shin Akira was curious. Without the help of the goddesses from the original plot, could the Savior of Humanity still save the world?
