Chapter 711: Wedding decorations
Chapter 711: Wedding decorations
Coco leaned back in her chair, her hand slipping out of Kairo’s so she could bury her face in her palms.
"Well.. Mama." She started, her voice was slightly muffled as she spoke, the words coming out earnest and sincere. "I want a wedding cake that Kairo will love. I may be a fan of dessert, but I want my husband to enjoy it too."
Cleora’s expression softened slightly at her words, a flicker of surprise in her eyes at the declaration.
Kairo’s lips quirking upwards in the corner, his gaze softening as he looked at his soon-to-be wife, loving the fact that she’s still thinking about what he wants.
The older woman hummed, her expression calmer now.
She glanced between the pair, her voice a little more firm. "Okay, okay. Would you like me to call in our chef and baker then? They may not be in charge of your wedding food, but they could help each other look for the perfect one."
Both Coco and Kairo perked up at the suggestion, nodding eagerly.
The hybrid was the first to speak up, a hopeful note in his voice as he smiled at his mother-in-law. "That would help us greatly. Thank you."
Cleora nodded in agreement, her expression lightening a bit at their eager responses.
She glanced over at the window, realizing the sky was already darkened— the moon visible in the inky horizon, making a decision form almost immediately in her head.
"Very well." She stated, turning back to the couple. "Unfortunately, you’ll have to come back tomorrow morning. I don’t want them to work late."
Coco pouted slightly at the mention of another visit tomorrow, she already felt tired from working day and night, now she has to come back to her mother’s castle?
Doesn’t Cleora know how vast her territory is that they have to walk for almost an hour just to go inside the castle?
It’s not like Coco could just ask her mother for a horse or a carriage, right?
Before Coco protested about coming back tomorrow— Kairo had beaten her to it and simply nodded his head in agreement.
It was almost laughable how eager he seemed.
Cleora let out a breath, her hand reaching down to her desk drawer to pull out something inside a white folder.
The older woman’s expression grew serious and opted on moving onto a different topic since the food was settled, so she decided to just get one of the things she needed to do to get cross out of her list.
And that is..
"Since we won’t be talking about the food for your wedding for now." She began, closing the drawer with a single push of her knuckle. "Let’s tackle a different one."
Both Coco and Kairo looked at her with equal parts of curiosity and trepidation, because neither of them knew what kind of topic a different one Cleora was referring to.
Cleora could sense the anticipation from her daughter and her son-in-law, so she quickly placed the file on the table, pushing it gently towards the two of them.
She gestured for them to open it, her expression neutral, but expectant.
"Open it." She instructed the two, leaning back on her chair once more. "It has a worthy collection of possible decorations that you might want for your wedding."
The two glanced at each other briefly before Kairo reached out to grab the file, carefully opening it to see what was inside.
Inside the folder were numerous pictures and diagrams on different kinds of decorations and designs— a wide variety of options spread out across the table.
Coco leaned forward, her eyes widening at the different choices.
The first few pages showcased candlelit arches, with massive golden arches draped in white silk, lined with dozens of flickering candles that would cast a soft glow across the reception hall.
Next was crystal chandeliers, which consisted of tall, intricate chandeliers made entirely of crystal prisms that would refract light into dazzling rainbows above, and this one is perfect for ballroom ceilings.
The next on the list is gilded thrones— consisting of two thrones draped in velvet and gold leafing, but Kairo’s face immediately scrunched at this suggestion.
Roses lining the aisle was the next one, and it had long aisles carpeted with fresh rose petals, surely making their sweet fragrance fill every step she takes down to get to her beloved groom in front.
Those were some of the listed decorations for the wedding.
There were more photos of venue arrangements, centerpieces, flower arrangements, lighting, and even theme options.
Among all of those extravagant ones, one page depicted a venue filled with lush greenery and flowers, with twinkle lights draped throughout the space.
And another page showed an elegant table setting, with sparkling crystal glasses and silverware.
There was even a section on theme options, with choices ranging from fairy tale, classic glamour, royal extravaganza.
Coco glanced through the pages, her eyes skimming over the various photos and descriptions.
Some were pretty, that much is obvious, but none had really caught her eye as a favorite, or would want on her wedding.
Conflicted, she turned to Kairo to ask him what he wanted— only to find he was already looking at her, his gaze steady and thoughtful.
He smiled when he saw her turn to him, immediately noticing how her face scrunched up, but he didn’t comment on it outright because he knew that he wanted to say something.
He raised an eyebrow, waiting for her to say what she had in mind.
However, instead of speaking to him, Coco pursed her lips and looked back at Cleora with a pleading expression.
"Uhm, uh.." She started, her fingers fidgeting on her lap as she cleared her throat. "...Mama? Can’t we have just a simple wedding? Like.. There’s no need for all these fancy themes. All I need is you and my friends to attend."
She paused, thinking of what to say.
"I.. Just want you guys to see me choose the man I wanted for myself."
