Chapter 199: Nao "My last Dock was at 3600 Parallax Drifts but now I Don’t Know!"
Chapter 199: Nao "My last Dock was at 3600 Parallax Drifts but now I Don’t Know!"
In the conference room I opened a wide scroll and pointed out a route so that Magen and Xifia could go outside.
There are two paths: one that goes to the floor of the cave and another that goes to the upper deck of the ship. By climbing a few short stairs one can exit to the upper deck from the control room.
This route is mostly so that Tikshna can create a bonfire to cook without having to go all the way down, two kilometers to the floor of the cave.
Tikshna, getting used to my style, has gathered a lot of firewood and charcoal, as well as stones and iron supports so she can create a good bonfire for cooking.
As for the captain, he needs a dignified burial and at least a monument as a final sign of respect. The captain has broken rib bones and I can guess that the bone fragments pierced his lungs. Perhaps at that moment there was nothing they could do for this captain and he simply died in his cabin, sitting behind his desk.
Everyone started doing their work. Dianeira and Kara took out luminous pearls to place them in several places in the command room so they could move and see with ease.
There are no cabins or bedrooms near the command room and only the captain’s room is behind the office. But I do not want to sleep there, the place where someone else slept and where I just met his skeleton...
Everyone agreed to sleep together in the conference room, which is spacious enough to accommodate seven sleeping bags around the conference table.
While everyone was busy with their own tasks, I approached the central platform.
With the metallic gray token in my hand I gently touched the metallic belt and it reacted by lighting up.
A flicker of orange color replaced the previous blue flicker from the beginning.
Moments later, the floor of the platform beneath my feet illuminated with a soft cream color and in front of the large chair a crystal screen formed.
There was no material, but it was a play of lights and shadows, a holographic projection, yet this projection was as clear as crystal.
First a four-petaled flower appeared with oval elongated petals and in the center a solid circle.
After about five seconds, the four-petaled flower disappeared and a series of symbols began to appear on the screen. It is literally like when one turned on a computer in my previous world.
Afterward, the figure of a ship with sails appeared on the screen and it looked as if it were sailing in the void, swaying gently.
Then, the holographic screen disappeared. But the screens around the central platform turned on and the image of the ship appeared on all of them.
Not only that, the ship also appeared on the large window in front. Then the lights of the entire conference room turned on, as if the girls had taken out their luminous pearls by the bucket, but in the end everything turned off again.
"Vremya, what was that?" Dianeira approached and jumped onto the platform.
"It seems the ship wanted to revive, but there is no energy..." I said, searching for the best word to describe it.
When I thought everything had ended in failure, the seat behind us vibrated and lowered its height a little. Then the holographic screen returned, but now smaller and right in front of me.
I only saw large yellow symbols and red symbols, then it seemed to be compiling a series of reports. Everything passed very quickly.
In the end only a blinking white inverted triangle remained on the screen.
"It seems it is not completely dead..." Dianeira said while looking at the screen.
"Mm."
"And what do we do?" Dianeira turned to look at me.
The blinking of this small white triangle reminds me of the cursor in a text box on a computer.
"Perhaps..." I said, and looking at the token in my hand and then turning to see the chair behind me.
I walked toward the chair and sat down as best I could. The moment I sat down, the chair seemed to react to my figure and somehow changed its size to adapt to me.
"Woa! It is magical~" Dianeira said and approached.
The crystal holographic screen moved and positioned itself in front of me. Looking to my sides, on the right side of the seat there is an armrest and it has a slightly oval circular hole.
The hole is the same size as the token, so without thinking I placed it there.
"OO AAA. Welcome to the new captain! I am [unintelligible sound] {Error: Data Damaged... Attempting Repair}" a somewhat ethereal and feminine voice entered my ears.
But there was a kind of background noise and some parts could not be heard clearly. It also seemed that at times the voice changed tone and lost all identity, as if it were a machine.
"What is happening?" Dianeira asked. Somehow she had leaned against the chair to my right and I could feel her body temperature.
"Did you not hear it?"
"Hear what?" Dianeira looked at me and then looked around.
"Dian, should you not be helping Kara prepare the place where we are going to sleep?"
"She can do it alone. Deje~" Dianeira stuck out her tongue and said, giving an expression of mischief.
I rolled my eyes at Dianeira and then the background noise seemed to calm down and I heard the ethereal feminine voice again.
"OO AAA. Captain, please give me a name!"
"Name?"
"What name?" Dianeira looks at me.
"Uhnm... Nao!" I made a silence signal to Dianeira and after thinking for a few seconds the image of the ship on the screens from a moment ago came to mind and I said -Nao-.
Nao is an advanced vessel from the fourteenth century that has a deck and sails but no longer uses oars. It can be said that it is a ship more advanced than medieval cogs. Of course, all of this from my previous world.
"OO AAA! Nao likes the name Nao! Nao is very happy!!~" the ethereal voice began to exclaim and repeat the word Nao many times.
In the changing tone of the voice I could feel an endless amount of joy and happiness.
Dianeira at my side looked at me with a strange expression. But Dianeira remained silent.
"Nao, can you tell me who you are?"
"OO AAA!! Nao is Nao!" My face lost all smile.
"No... I mean introduce yourself."
"OO AAA. Right! Ahem. Welcome to the new captain! I am Nao and I am here to help you navigate!" For some reason I feel that this was not what it was going to say the first time. But remembering that it seems there are lost data, I could not do anything.
"What are Nao’s functions?"
"Nao is a Navis Entis! And Nao can do everything a Navis Entis can do!"
’This artificial intelligence is broken.’ I complained in my heart and placed my right hand on my forehead, covering my face.
"Are you talking to the ship?" Dianeira seems she could no longer resist the curiosity and asked me, and then changed her gaze from me toward the crystal screen that floated in the air.
The screen now shows many entries and responses. It seems to be a kind of terminal of a computer into which commands have been entered and responses returned.
Although the language is strange to me and it seems to Dianeira as well. But for some reason I can understand the voice that is in my head.
"Nao, can you navigate?" Thinking of many questions, I tried to formulate the main one: can this ship navigate?
"OO AAA. Nao detects structural damage, Nao detects damage in power source, Nao detects... Nao initiates analysis..."
It seems my command was correct. The ship’s AI began to do its work and the screen in front of me showed many symbols very quickly.
After some long minutes it seems a report of the ship was formed.
"... Nao cannot navigate, total damage more than eighty percent. Nao recommends emigration. Impossible to repair."
Wow... It does not look like it, but the damage to this spaceship is so great.
But it seems that the voice of this artificial intelligence does not care much about the ship... Is it because it has no memory and all its original data have disappeared?
Then, how am I going to know the history of the ship?
"Nao, can you compile all the information of the ship and prepare a migration?"
"OO AAA. Command accepted, Command on pause... Captain authorization required. New Captain, please complete the setup!"
"Good, Nao, begin the setup."
"OO AAA. Nao initiates the setup of the new captain. Please give the name of the new captain..."
Why do I feel like I am setting up my computer with an artificial intelligence assistant environment that does not work...?
"Did you finish talking to the ship?"
A good while later I finished the series of questions from Nao to take control of the ship. According to Nao some pieces of the ship can be recovered, but the vast majority is damaged and it is impossible to repair. It is recommended to return to the dock and change ships.
But when I asked where the dock is I almost fainted. According to Nao, the ship comes from a distance of 3600 Parallax Drifts. Leaving aside the problem that I do not know how much that is, definitely the dock from which this ship departed is not in this solar system.
The problem is that the world where the dock is located is not in the position it was when this ship left its dock, but instead it sailed in a direction that Nao cannot point out now.
According to Nao, the original world of this ship is actually another ship!
